Ukrainian Series

This series of paintings is inspired by my mother's Ukrainian heritage and a trip I made to Ukraine in 2008. I was fortunate to be with ten women volunteering with Hungry For Life International to help the widows and orphans by providing them with the basic necessities of life. As I saw the babushkas walking home with their precious bags of food and clothing, I knew I had to put these images onto canvas. The series has grown to include dancers and other images reflecting my heritage from here to there - Canada to Ukraine.
